    Ultrasonic Inspectors

Leaking hatch covers for many years have been the for cargo damage onboard dry cargo vessels and even today claims for wet damage remain one of the biggest concerns for ship owners, cargo interests and their insurers. According to various articles published approximately a third of all P&I claims are cargo-related of which numerous of these cases are related to ingress of seawater – even small amounts of water may do extensive damage to cargoes sensitive to seawater, e.g. steel, paper cargoes, grain etc.

UST (Ultrasonic Testing) is the only way to generate a measurable result, which is necessary to decide whether the condition of hatch covers is acceptable. P&I insurers accept the records of UST as it provides measurable and reliable results. UST is the only method that shows the degree of hatch cover leakage, which is crucial in determining whether the hatch covers are in an acceptable condition.

We provide a quick and effective method of evaluating hatch seals by use of ABS Type Approved Ultrasonic Hatch Leak Detector.
